Did you Know?

You can use your decorative scissors for more than just scrapbooking?  Here is an example of Decoupage on candles

Cuts to the napkins should be made in a wavy motion or use scrapbooking scissors with decorative edges. The goal at this stage is to not have straight/ sharp cut edges as they do not blend in well as you start decoupaging the candle.

Just too cheap

At only 1 dollar a pair scrapbooking scissors are so affordable so be quick.

FOUR--4--decorative edge scissors for scrapbooking and patterns. They are gently used but in fine working order (just tried them and all provided a nice, clean cut). I cannot find a manufacturer name on these.

The designs are:
red = rounded scallop
purple = zigzg
green = uneven (ragged? I think to mimic torn paper)
blue = fancy rounded and pointed combination

Happy to combine shipping!

The best Craft Scissors Part 2

Today I have the second and final part in "What is the best craft scissors?"

There is only two main brands to choose from the Non-Stick Micro Serrated Scissors by Tim Holtz manufactured by Tonic Studios and the Cutter Bee Scissors Precision-Cut Scissors.

These are the most reviewed craft scissors on the planet an rightly so as they are great products. Having a set of quality, durable and balanced scissors will improve your craft projects.   I'll start with the Tim Holts Scissors because they are truly legendary!!! These Micro-Serrated Scissors come with a soft grip handle and feature an over-sized design that leaves more room for the hands.  They feature a nonstick coating on the blades and you well appreciate how easily the nonstick cleans up after sticky jobs by cutting papers coated with adhesive, glitter glues and others.

In every day use, the micro-serrated scissors is extremely sharp - so don't let them get near the kids. The fine tip is designed cutting finer designs while the longer section of the bade features the micro-serrated edge.  The handles are large enough to fit almost your whole hand in one side so that you don’t have to cut using just one or two fingers. This really is noticeable when cutting thicker materials such as thick paper board.

These scissors are however a bit larger than you might expect and can be a little difficult to use on detail cutting until you get use to using them but after a few basic cuts you'll be amaze at how well this scissors design shines. They come with a protective plastic cap for safe storage and overall, this is a excellent craft scissor that will not let you down...

The best Craft Scissors Part 1

Today I have a real treat for you. If you've ever wondered what is the best craft scissors to own --- you'll love today's article.

The Cutter Bee scissors is one to those scissors that all the reviewer prefer to use as they are cute and compact for all your scrapbooking requirements. They feature precision-ground tips which are great for accurate cutting.  These scissors are made to cut right up to the tip and the comfort grip handle is easy on your hands.  A nice addition is the protective safety snap-on safety cover that help extent the life of cutting edge. These are a great pair of craft scissors that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again as that are great for all paper cutting and glide around tight corners. The Cutter Bees are the best for doing all your fine and fussy cutting.

The main advantages are they are small and are perfect for fine detail cuts. The sharpness is very long lasting and are extremely well made. Also that they are small so are easy to pack away in your travel set. The only disadvantages that I have found that they require constantly cleaning because they get so mucky. So I now have move to the Honey Bee scissors as these feature a non-stick coating. So you really can’t go wrong with a pair of these in you craft toolbox.

Hi Scrappers

In this example is from Caroline Scattergood in which she has used the deckle scissors to create this awesome background paper with a deckle edge.

I used BasicGrey Nook & Pantry paper and chipboard to create this card.

The best Fringe scissors to own.

Hi,

I've been waiting to be able to send something like this out for a while. These scissors are so handy to have in your craft room along with your other scrapbooking scissors as you can see for the video.

These fringe scissors make making a fringe boarder a no brainer instead of trying to use single pairs of scissors to cut all the lines straights. Great to use then to make pennants, flags, party invitations, party decorations, birthday pages, cards, sports pages and fringe boarders.

About Scrapbooking Scissors

You can call them scrapbooking scissors, fancy scissors, corner edgers, decorative scissors or paper edging scissors they are by far the easiest and cheapest way cut in patterns in paper, or other materials, instead of the standard straight line cut. The results are endless and as your work develops you can create amazing scrapbooking pages. The scrapbooking scissors are a low cost item to own so having many different types is possible.

Scrapbooking has had many trends and today many people view scrapbooking scissors as a past trend, preferring now to the more expensive options such as punches and die cutting machines. However scrapbooking scissors are more popular item than people will admit and are also quite commonly used for card making or children's craft projects. Some of the more popular patterns for decorative edge scissors include Sunflower, Pinking, Scallop, Cloud and Victorian just to name a few.

So you can enjoy using decorative scissors on your layouts; don't let fears about not having a trendy scrapbook page keep you from expressing your creativity. The key to success in scrapbooking is to create pages that you enjoy and made by your own hands. The same way that the memories where made by you. As long as you're happy with the end result.

To get you started here a few tips to follow before you start. These are some of the easier mistakes that can be avoided;

  1. Using one or two scissor patterns per page... it's very easy to overdo it.
  2. Use a copy of any photos as test subject before cutting the original photo.
  3. You need to line up the blade after each cut in order to avoid a break in the pattern,
  4. Be patient and slow down. (You cannot go as fast as you would with regular scissors.)
  5. If you're having trouble lining up nicely...again use a test piece for practice.

So no matter what you call your scrapbooking scissors they all add a decorative edge to any paper craft. All of them are easy to use and inexpensive. So go on a collect a few different patterns to increase you creative skills.
